The impact FAST is contributing to our communities is a lifelong journey. It’s a fact when fathers are involved in their children’s lives, they perform better in school and exhibit healthier behaviors. Even for those fathers who don’t share a home with their children, their active involvement can have a lasting and positive impact.

Our work promotes lifestyle changes that support improved educational outcomes, improved health and wellness, and better decision making from our youth, while also inspiring community advocacy and engagement from youth and parents alike.

FAST seeks to aid in the creation of these bonds by supporting fathers to be present, positive, and active with their children-building loving relationships that feature good boundaries, direct involvement, and strength of character on both sides of the generational divide.

We recognize the unfortunate statistics of fatherless homes in our communities and encourage all male figures/uncles, grandfathers, coaches, and yes, moms are all welcome to join our program as mentors to their youth.

The Case For FAST

 Focus on the current condition ---- now IMAGINE a CHANGE

• Imagine a community where educating our sons was the priority versus worrying if you can bail him out of juvenile or jail
• Imagine a community where 80-90% of the heads of households were fathers instead of women (reduction in absent fathers)

There is no longer a need for dire predictions, hand-writing, or an urgent concern of losing a generation of boys, especially Black boys. It already too late.

In education, employment, economics, incarceration, health, housing, and parenting, we have lost a generation of young Black men. The question that remains is will we lose the next two or three generations, or possibly every generation of Black boys hereafter to the streets, negative media, gangs, drugs, poor education, unemployment, absent fathers, crime, violence, and or death.

The Solutions

The solutions to the problems of young Black men are simple and relatively inexpensive, but they may not be easy, practical, or popular. It is not that we lack solutions as much as it is that we lack the will to implement these solutions to save Black boys. It seems that the government is willing to pay billions of dollars to lock up young Black men, rather than the millions it would take to prepare them to become viable contributors and valued members of our society.

FAST is a prevention program versus an intervention program, a powerful platform for empowering the interaction of fathers and their sons.
